💔☕️🌻 aromanticism/relationships, growth from suffering, beauty of daily life + sunflowers w/ Nathan of Crawl Across the Sky (26)
Don’t Be Strangers * Show Notes
Q — What books are interesting you right now?
Loveless by Alice Oseman
Aro / Ace
Bojack horseman
Go to a concert ONLY if it’s out of town
How do you prove the absence of something?
I believe in the power of words… if you can label something then you can understand it.
I was very content being aromantic because it meant I got to avoid a lot of the emotional turmoil that people go through in romantic relationships and I was very ok with that.
Q — What has been keeping you sane lately?
Q — What were you doing previously and how did you switch over to tech & coding?
Studio Painter
I think everyone’s a stranger, no matter how close you are. But that’s not a bad thing. I think a stranger just means that there are layers to the person that you don’t know. Just because there’s a lot of layers you don’t know doesn’t make it a bad thing, it just takes time to peal away those layers.
I think there’s a certain majesty that comes with unfamiliarity. And that’s the fun of it.
I think the bottom line is that you’re never going to know [your friends or loved ones] fully, but I think that’s what makes relationships and friendships especially beautiful /because/ you’re not going to know them fully. There’s always more to unpack.
The whimsy of daily life is something incredibly special.
Q — Any art pieces you’ve been enjoying lately?
REFRESHING
Theater Therapy
Everything Everywhere All At once
Q — If you had to get a tattoo today, what would it be and why?
sunflowers
Silent Planet, they used to giveaway sunflowers at their show because they represent peace in nuclear war because sunflowers are the only flowers that grow in Chernobyl
so I think it’s a beautiful metaphor of life sprouting from death/tragedy. It’s always this continuous cycle.
Q — Have you made any art you’re proud of it?
OCD getting worse
depression / suicide
“I don’t know if I’m right and I don’t know if everyone else is right, so you extend that grace to everybody.”
“What we choose to do with that suffering is very meaningful”
